About the Author

J.K. Rowling is a British author best known for writing the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone series, one of the best-selling book franchises in history. Born Joanne Rowling on July 31, 1965, in Yate, Gloucestershire, England, she wrote much of the first Harry Potter book while facing financial struggles as a single mother. Her stories about Harry Potter became a global phenomenon and were later adapted into films by Warner Bros.. Aside from Harry Potter, she has also written novels such as The Casual Vacancy and the Cormoran Strike series under the pen name Robert Galbraith.
